The Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP) was a community-driven program designed to spread the benefits of economic immigration to smaller communities in Canada. It aimed to create a path to permanent residence for skilled foreign workers who wanted to work and live in one of the participating communities.
The pilot had several key steps:
- Eligibility Check: Applicants needed to meet both IRCC and community-specific requirements.
- Job Search: Finding an eligible job with an employer in one of the participating communities.
- Community Recommendation: Submitting an application for recommendation to the community.
- Permanent Residence Application: Applying for permanent residence if recommended by a community.
The program officially closed on August 31, 2024, which was the deadline for candidates to submit their permanent residence applications
