On August 13, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced an extension of key measures under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET).
Ukrainian nationals and their family members who arrive in Canada under CUAET before March 31, 2024, will be eligible to apply for a new open work permit, study permit, or visitor record for an additional three years. The deadline to apply for these permits is March 31, 2025.
Importantly, all Ukrainians and their family members currently in Canada as temporary residents will continue to have access to free settlement services until March 31, 2025. Applicants will be required to pay fees for work permits, including $155 for a temporary residence work permit and $100 for an open work permit.
To date, approximately 1,189,320 applications have been submitted through the CUAET program, according to the latest IRCC update.
