Also, the government of Canada has announced active travel health notices from those traveling from or pass through countries heavily affected by the virus. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) measures are put in place for those whose Temporary Residence or Permanent Residency applications are affected by the disruptions.
Active travel health notices
There are several active travel health notices for COVID-19. Each country or area may have different levels of risk. These risk levels may change as the COVID-19 event evolves internationally.
Before you leave, check the following destinations that have travel health notices for COVID-19:
- China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Spain
Special measures to help temporary and permanent residents and applicants affected by the novel coronavirus (COVID‑19)

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has put special measures in place to help you, if
- you’re a Chinese, Iranian or South Korean national; or
- you’re in China, Iran or South Korea; and
- you’re affected by service disruptions or travel restrictions related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
Disruptions include the following:
- visa application center closures
- service disruptions at Canadian visa offices
- travel plan disruptions
- limited access to local government offices and businesses
- limited access to a panel physician who can do the immigration medical exam
There is also help available if you need a permanent resident travel document to travel back to Canada.
