We are seeking a self-driven and accountable field technician to deploy proprietary Guidance tool on conventional diamond drill rigs (core drilling) at mining sites around the world. The role also includes Guidance data acquisition and transmission. This position is ideal for an individual eager to join and grow with a company delivering innovative and disruptive technology to the mining community.

Schedule shift:
14 days on and 12 days off, working 12 hours per day.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Guide the drillers on the correct wellhead position and borehole trajectory.
  • Provide instructions/training to drillers regarding the data acquisition procedure.
  • Assemble the tools and equipment.
  • Check the dimensions of the drill string components.
  • Run the tools and equipment calibration procedure.
  • Re-mix and pour the drilling fluid.
  • Mount the tools and equipment on the drill mast.
  • Acquire and transmit the data.
  • Guide the drillers throughout the data acquisition process.
  • Run the data QC procedure.
  • Track drilling performance.
  • Record downtimes.
  • Submit the daily report.
  • Lead Safety Meetings and Toolbox Talks.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Candidate must reside in Canada and be legally authorized to work there.
  • 2+ years of in-field operation experience (mining, oil & gas, tunneling, etc.).
  • Ability to lift 25+ kilograms.
  • Ability to work outdoors.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Valid Class G driver’s license or equivalent (Canada-Ontario classification).
  • Education in an engineering, or technical discipline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both co-workers and customers.
  • Employees may be required to pass a medical exam.

Qualifications Preferred but not Mandatory:

  • Authorization to work in Brazil is an asset.
  • Experience with mining field operations (exploration, open pit, and underground) is an asset.
  • Understanding of borehole downhole sensor deployment is an asset.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geological Engineering or a related geophysics degree is an asset.
