Did you know that Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has a network of outreach officers across Canada who help employers understand immigration options to support their hiring needs?

Hariana Brooks and Michael Frenette are the IRCC Outreach Officers for the Atlantic.  We are pleased to announce the 2022 virtual opportunities for employers to engage directly with us and learn about Canada’s economic immigration programs.  These events are intended for employers and not current or prospective applicants.

  • Starting February 2nd, we will be hosting a learning series for employers in the Atlantic.  Each month will feature a new topic and provide you with an opportunity to ask us questions.  You may choose to attend one or all the information sessions based on your interest and needs.  Upcoming topics will include an overview of the Atlantic Immigration Program, the resources available to employers and recruiting for global talent.  For more details and registration information, please refer to the attached poster.
  • Starting February 8th, we will be hosting virtual cafés for employers in the Atlantic.  You will have the opportunity to “drop-in” to our virtual office hours and chat live with us.  For more details and joining instructions, please refer to the attached poster.

Atlantic Immigration Program: 

Following the success of the Atlantic Immigration Pilot, the government announced the creation of a permanent program in 2022. This program was designed to help employers in Atlantic Canada hire qualified foreign workers to support growth in Atlantic Canada and international graduates who want to stay in the region after graduation. Learn about this new permanent program, which will continue to be a flagship regional economic immigration program in the Atlantic Provinces.

Resources for employers:
Learn about the wide variety of resources and how they can support you in hiring and retaining foreign talent. This session will discuss the role of Outreach Officers, settlement agencies, the International Mobility Workers Unit, the client contact centre and more.

Recruiting for the Global Talent:
Recruitment for global talent can seem overwhelming however this session will provide clarity on how you can begin your search. Topics to be discussed include IRCCs recruitment services such as Destination Canada, Job Bank and employing international students in Canada.

If you are an employer, you can chat live with the IRCC Outreach Officers in the Atlantic, Hariana Brooks and Michael Frenette. Ask questions and get information about economic immigration programs. Please note that case-specific enquiries will not be addressed.
