Work Global Canada Inc. has partnered with a foreign government to offer certification programs for various skilled trades. This is a brand new program and the first set of students will be 15 qualified carpenters who will be assessed and trained according to the requirements in Newfoundland and Labrador. One week of the program will be set aside to test the skills of the carpenters in various tasks, to ensure that their skills are up to par. The other two weeks will be assigned to training and certification, and occupational health and safety.
WGCi will be an intermediary between employers and the carpenters. Through this program, WGCi is offering companies the chance to employ qualified, vetted, and trained foreign workers without the time and hassle of a Labour Market Opinion. WGCi can also ensure that they are trained for the customized needs of your company. These workers will be available to work by March, 2014, guaranteed.
In addition to the benefits of the program itself, WGCi offers to:
- Obtain your job order and specifications;
- Prepare interview questions;
- Organize the interviews and guide the employer through the selection process, and assist with the validation of both parties as it relates to the candidates;
- Prepare the employment contact (we recommend that you get a third party opinion);
- Coordinate the travel for the worker from the training facility to the Avalon Peninsula (if the worker is going somewhere other than the Avalon, additional charges may apply outside of this cost);
- Facilitate with overseas offices on work permits or any other documents needed to begin work;
- WCGi will attend job fairs and conferences on behalf of your company;
- Prepare a welcome package to aid the foreign worker transition to life in Newfoundland.
If you are interested in obtaining workers through this program, WGCi needs a commitment. Interviews will take place in January, 2013, and the workers will finish their training at the end of February (this includes transportation to Avalon Peninsula). They will be available for placement as of March 1, 2014. The cost per worker will be 1400$, but any additional workers will be 10% off.
