On July 31, 2013 the Government of Canada made some changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. To understand how these changes will affect your business and the industry you work in, please give us a call at (709) 700-1983.
The changes included in the Economic Action Plan 2013 include:
- a processing fee of 275$ has been introduced to cover the cost of performing the Labour Market Opinion (this does not apply to all industries, please call us for more details)
- there is a restriction to which languages can be listed as a requirement for a position. Only English and French can be listed as a requirement for employment.
- open positions need to be posted on Canadian job sites for 4 weeks prior to applying for a Labour Market Opinion
- there are some additional questions on the application for an LMO
These changes are outlined on the Employment and Social Development Canada website.
